Why we invest in engineering companies

At Updal Group, engineering is not just something we fund — it is what we do every day. Updal Solutions designs, engineers and distributes IoT products across Europe, from first sketch and PCB to firmware, certification and production ramp. That hands-on experience shapes how we think about investing.

Through Updal Engineering, we invest in technology companies across Sweden and the United Kingdom. We are not a distant shareholder. We work closely with management teams, providing both investment and practical support — helping companies grow, strengthen their business, and create long-term value for customers, employees and shareholders.

Our approach is deliberately long-term. We believe patient capital, combined with real engineering and operating experience from the wider group, gives companies the room and the support they need to build something that lasts.

The portfolio today

Updal Engineering currently holds partly owned investments in three companies:

• Nida Tech Sweden ABA Swedish technology company — part of our home market, where the group's roots and engineering base are strongest.
• ZapIQ LimitedA UK-based company, reflecting our growing presence in the British technology market.
• Cosie Homes LimitedA UK company bringing connected technology into the home — a natural fit for a group built around IoT.

Each investment connects back to what the group knows best: connected products, reliable engineering and long-term relationships. And as the next chapter of Updal takes shape, we keep exploring what comes next — on our own, or together with the right partner.
